Manly sets financial reporting benchmark

In July, Manly Council set a financial reporting benchmark by submitting finalised audited statements within three weeks of the financial year end.

In congratulating the Finance staff for achieving such an excellent reporting standard, General Manager, Wayne Collins pointed to the efforts of Group Manager, Finance and Information Technology, Dr Jacob De Bruyn, who joined Council earlier this year.

"Manly Council's effort compares with the best of private enterprise where very few corporations supply finalised audited accounts within three weeks of the financial year end," Wayne Collins said. "Implementing commercial best practice standards, in financial management and other areas of Council activity, will result in efficiencies which should benefit the whole Manly community."

The improved performance follows a recent major restructuring of Manly Council's organisation to improve performance, quality, customer service and community consultation.
