Welcome reception on the Town Green

Boasting the best climate in Australia, and that's official, according to a report released by the CSIRO, why not make the most of it? The Conference organisers, keen to exploit this key attribute, are planning an outdoor President's Reception and Welcome to Delegates.

To be held on the Town Green, overlooking the River and nearby beaches, Port Macquarie's popular meeting place will provide locals and other visitors with a very public face of Local Government.

Rather than being indoors shut away from the community, residents and visitors will witness Mayors, in full regalia, and many Councillors from around the State coming together, to 'surf the waves of change'.

Conveniently located within the CBD, the reception on the Sunday evening is nicely timed to take advantage of the first weekend of daylight saving. The Town Green will be decked out with colourful marquees, and delegates will be entertained by local musicians. Light refreshments will be served.

For dinner later that evening, information will be available providing delegates with a wide selection of excellent local restaurants, including a choice of Italian, Thai, Chinese and Mexican cuisine.

Organisers are confident delegates will enjoy a pleasantly warm, balmy evening. However, should the weather not deliver, an alternative attractive indoor venue will be on standby.
