New concept in business management for Local Authorities*

"Quite simply, with the concept of Praxa Enterprise - we are fundamentally changing the way in which Local Authorities can, and are, doing business," said Mick O'Malley, Praxa's Marketing Manager for Local Authorities.

At its recent launch, he said that Praxa Enterprise is a new business term encompassing Praxa's product and mission to implement effective information technology strategies for Local Authorities, enabling them to meet their corporate objectives.

The concept of Praxa Enterprise is not simply a software approach. It employs a unique, integrated set of products and services, configured and implemented from a business consulting rather than a technical point of view.

A solution under Praxa Enterprise may include strategic consulting to provide professional hardware selection, sizing and sourcing skills, integrated with LAN/WAN solutions, networking and operating systems, enterprise messaging, workflow and office automation applications.

These are then married to Local Authority business applications for corporate and business units, together with business process modelling and management facilities. This allows it to address all business needs from data entry to client service to senior management and elected members.

Praxa Enterprise covers the following four areas.

  • Financial Management including accounting, expenditure, budgeting and EIS functions.
  • People and Property Management including land information systems such as property management, client management (people and organisations), rating schemes and water billing.
  • Asset Management including management, maintenance, scheduling, estimating and costing, depreciation, customer requests and GIS.
  • Corporate and Technical Services including human resources, building, planning, health, animal control, community services, document management and more.

"The consulting Praxa provides to Local Authorities has the same intent as to any other business operation," Mick O'Malley said. "We view Local Authorities as businesses, rather than 'just' statutory organisations, which is how they perceive themselves today."
