Partnership in new residential developmentFour thousand residents and visitors witnessed Playford Mayor, Marilyn Baker, receive an Award of Appreciation from Hickinbotham Homes General Manager, Michael Hickinbotham, at the opening of a display centre at Andrews Farm in April. The City of Playford has been instrumental in assisting the Andrews Farm development, Adelaide's largest private housing development. Playford's Manager Integrated Planning, Terry Bell, said the development represents a partnership between the Federal and State Governments, Council and the developer. Located on Adelaide's fringe, the last stage of this 10 year development has now commenced. From the outset, the aim was to create a high quality lifestyle rather than ad hoc development. To that end, Council has been active in facilitating good infrastructure planning, creating open space and extensive tree planting. It was considered appropriate that Marilyn Baker commemorate the occasion with a tree planting. Michael Hickinbotham said that Andrews Farm has become one of Australia's most innovative and thriving communities. "The strong working partnership between the City of Playford and Hickinbotham Homes has secured a very bright future for the rapidly expanding Andrews Farm community," he said. Community facilities built by the developer include an ecumenical school, shops and in its open space provision, a lake forms part of stormwater management. Water entering the lake is filtered through purifying reed beds. For further information contact Terry Bell, telephone (08) 8254 0222 |
