Greater business analysis delivers better services*

The City of Whitehorse began using Computron Software's financial management system at the start of this year. Serving over 145,000 people, Whitehorse is one of Victoria's largest Councils. "Computron's system was selected because of the level of reporting it provided, and it best met the business objectives set out in the tender," said Jeff Carson, Manager Information Services.

"In line with National Competition Policy, Council services are delivered through ten Business Units. This package best meets their business needs, delivering optimum budget and financial management, as well as cashflow projections. "It is very versatile, providing reports for each of the Units, as well as rolling it up to give a holistic picture of all Council's operations."

He said that time spent preparing both end of year budgets and monthly financial reports has effectively been halved by the system. "With less time required for data input, more attention can be given to analysis of our actual performance," Jeff Carson said. "This in turn ensures we are delivering the best possible service to our residents at the best possible price."

A further advantage of this package has been its seamless integration with Council's other Office software, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, making data input easy. Computron's support in the lead up to going live with the new system, and its ongoing backup, has enabled Council to quickly obtain all benefits this software has to offer.
