Cutting edge Congress CD

Instead of the traditional large booklet, delegates attending the International Local Government Engineering and Public Works Congress received a CD Rom covering the conference proceedings and papers.

Believed to be the first Local Government conference in Australia, and quite possibly overseas, to use this leading edge technology, the 650 Megabyte CD includes over 400 MB of video.

"As well as the 70 Conference papers, there is information about the exhibitors; Boral, the CD sponsor; IPWEA; the Homebush Olympic site; and the Torch Relay," said National President Chris Watson. He congratulated Chris Champion from Holroyd Council and the Conference Organising Team for their magnificent effort in producing the CD.

"The CD is not merely static but interactive," Chris Champion said. "It has sound, visuals, video and animation. Produced by LaunchPad Multimedia, the company said this production is definitely at the cutting edge of conference CD proceedings in Australia."

He said the cost of producing the conference proceedings in this format was the same price as the older style booklet, but sponsorship for the CD was easier to obtain. Copies of the CD can be purchased from IPWEA for $30 or two for $50, telephone (02) 9267 6677.
