This Conference will draw the attention of all stakeholders to regional issues and help the Federal and State Governments focus on the key strategies which can accelerate national growth, as Australia enters the 21st Century.

The Conference will focus on the following key areas.

  • Community Development
  • Communication and Infrastructure
  • Global Trade and Commerce

It is expected to attract national and international participation with over 300 delegates representing universities, research institutions, the public and private sectors.

The social program will highlight the Riverland district giving delegates an insight into the potential of this region for investment, employment and retirement.

A panel of experts representing each focal area will sit during the two days to draft recommendations for the consideration of the State Government.

South Australia's Premier, John Olsen, will open the Conference. Each conference session will be presided over by the relevant State Minister. The Conference will also have participation from Federal Parliamentarians.

The theme of the Conference will focus on recognising the important role that regional Australia plays today in shaping the national economy.
