LIVE TELECAST – A Local Government conference first

The first session of the Perth International Public Works Conference will be televised live across Australia on Access 31 (UHF Channel 31) at 10.45am (EST) on Monday 27 August 2001.

With the theme for the conference being ‘Innovation – The Key to the Future’, this session will present a panel of highly credentialed national and international speakers.

They will give their views on this issue which is critical to the future of any successful organisation.

The session will be facilitated by Perth media personality, Gerry Gannon. It will involve interaction with conference delegates and the television audience via a phone in number that will be advertised during the program.

The panellists include the following.

• Dr Bob Brown (Consultant, Author and Managing Director). Bob is currently a consultant in manufacturing engineering based in Victoria. His primary activity in recent years has been the coordination of an international project studying management of global engineering enterprises.
• David Begg (Chairman – Commission for Integrated Transport UK). David is a member of various professional bodies, has produced a wide variety of publications on transport, economics and the environment, and is also an advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister.
• Dr Jenny Stewart (Senior Lecturer, Public Policy and Public Sector Management, University of Canberra). Jenny is well known for her critical and scholarly writing on the Australian Public Service, where she worked for 15 years prior to taking up her present position.
• Guy Felio (NRC Institute for Research and Construction, Canada). As a consultant, Guy has worked on geotechnical and geo-environmental projects as well as implementing pavement management systems for municipalities. At the National Research Council of Canada, he is now responsible for the National Guide to Sustainable Municipal Infrastructure Initiative.
