Free resources - updated regularly. Where can I find them?

The Australian Sports Commission’s (ASC) Active Australia web site – www.activeaustralia.org – is a valuable tool for all Local Governments, sporting clubs and associations.

Key features of the website include the following:

  • Advice and tools an organisation can use to improve its ability to attract new members.
  • Information on how to train and recognise volunteers.
  • Tips on effective fundraising.
  • Information on specific programs designed to make sport environments safer more inclusive and fun for all.
  • The latest on hot resources and news in Australian sport.

The website includes a catalogue which lists the latest publications and products in every area from coaching and officiating resources to publications suitable for Local Government and Councils. You can find this catalogue at www.ausport.gov.au/pubcat/

Recent additions to the ASC web sites include specialised coaching and officiating home pages. All coaches can access the latest information on coaching regardless of their accreditation level through www.coachingaus.org

If your organisation employs or supports accredited coaches, they can gain access to their own special ‘locker room’ for free resources and practical information on improving their coaching skills. Officials also have a members-only ‘locker room’ with downloadable tools and information specific to all officials whether they are referees, umpires, linesmen or technical officials. This information can be found at www.officiatingaus.org

Both websites also contain free ‘thanks’ e-cards that can be sent via email to any coach or official who deserves to be thanked for their efforts on or off the field. The e-cards will soon be expanded to recognise administrators and other volunteers.
