Privacy – when simply drawing the curtains isn’t enough! *

Overseas, and now in Australia, security of confidential data is being legislated as a legal responsibility of all organisations including Local Governments and soon may become a personal liability of officers and directors.

Surprisingly, while many Councils have implemented security applications ensuring secure access to stored data, access to networks, access by staff outside firewalls and to in coming information through the firewall, very little focus has been invested in securing confidential data from leaving Councils, combined with the inherent dangers of such information falling, intentionally or unintentionally, into the wrong hands.

AXS-One, a long time provider of business and web based solutions to Councils, has now introduced into Australia the first Internet email out security application which addresses this need, easily and invisibly.

Both Singleton Shire and Blue Mountains City Councils have already committed to the email security/encryption and signature certification software that provides the following benefits.

  • No PKI key management.
  • Send to ‘anyone’ capabilities (no need for recipient to be licensed).
  • Implementation of either individual or Council wide security policy.
  • Encryption/certification based on many rules such as recipients, subject matter, key words and so forth.
  • Requires no software at the desktop level.
  • Works with all leading email systems.
  • Does not interfere with virus scanning, email monitoring or other corporate level functions.
  • Guaranteed security of confidential information (meets Principle 4 and 9 of the Privacy Legislation of 21 December 2001).
  • Rapid deployment.
