Perth recognised in Prime Minister’s awardsHaving staff closely involved in the business planning process is a key factor in the success of the City of Perth’s corporate knowledge program. This program has now been recognised with high commendation in the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Sector Management. It is the first year the awards have been open to Local Government. Organisations participating in the rigorous awards process have to demonstrate commitment and achievement in a range of areas. These include improved client satisfaction, planning and governance, leadership innovation and change management. City of Perth CEO, Frank Edwards, said the administration has put considerable effort into improving its knowledge and information systems for the benefit of ratepayers and other stakeholders. “As one of Australia’s leading Local Government authorities, the City of Perth serves a variety of stakeholders,” he said. “It is the role and function of everyone at the City to make sure that our service is effective, efficient and accessible to all stakeholders.” Frank Edwards said the strengths of the City of Perth’s program including the following:
